The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR Camera is an outstanding still photography option, an extremely well-suited 4K-capable video tool and a photography workhorse that continues the legacy that Canon has set with their EOS 5D range. This multimedia maven offers a newly developed 30.4 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor paired with the DIGIC 6+ image processor in order to balance fine detail and resolution with low-light performance and sensitivity. It is able to work within a native range of ISO 100-32000, which can then be expanded to an impressive ISO 50-102400, for sharp, low-noise images in a variety of conditions. Along with these improvements to image quality, users will enjoy a performance boost across the board with an enhanced AF system, built-in Wi-Fi, NFC, and GPS and much more.

Does not compete with other brands but...

Mixed feelings. I had a choice between this and the R and I just could not deal with the viewfinder and the layout. I have been using normal cameras too long to have a toy like camera in my hand. But beyond that the 5D (per all the reviews) has some major drawbacks compared to other cameras. In 4K apart from the crop I can barely get those jumbo file sizes off the camera via USB. I have to use Wifi and when it connects it takes forever. The auto focus was a big seller for me as I llke to focus pull. I like the wifi, but all of these things are standard on Sony and others. Had I not invested in Canon glass I would not pay so much for this camera. At the end of the day it does the job and the end results are going to be the same no matter what you shoot on--you determine that not the camera. It is just the 4K side of things and as someone mention why does the focus Af not cover more of the screen--come on now--this is a top level camera.

I will always choose Canon above another brand.

Don't get me wrong, Nikons are great cameras. However, the company I work for use Canon exclusively and I had to change from Nikon to Canon and I could not be more pleased with the friendliness the 5Dmk iv opened up towards me. I am now looking for an upgrade for my personal camera and I cannot help but completely lean towards what Canon has already offered and will continue to offer.

Not just "one small step" for Canon ...

Not just "one small step" for Canon ...

The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is a giant leap forward. It features a 30.4 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor - quite an improvement on the 22.3 megapixel count of the Mark III. The Mark IV has a ton of new features - higher resolution, faster processor, full touchscreen interface, built-in WiFi connectivity and Cinema 4K video recording.

Despite all the improvements, it manages to be a seamless, smooth upgrade from the Mark III. I could just take it out of the box and start shooting.

One thing I love about Canon's pro and semi-pro ranges is the fact that you can pick up and shoot in any conditions. The robust body and excellent weather and dust proofing makes it ideal for trying conditions and the 5D Mark IV is no exception.

My favourite features?

- I love the new touchscreen, it makes everything so much easier and smooths out the workflow.
- The spirit level inside the camera makes a huge difference.
- The dynamic range is incredible.
- The built-in WiFi capability is a boon.
- There's a MAJOR jump in image quality and resolution.

Downside?
With the larger images and file sizes I had to buy lots of new memory cards ...
